This project was commissioned by the Vancouver Parks Board to build a new activity house within Oppenheimer Park. The elliptical design aims to reinvigorate the urban park and restore its relevance to the downtown eastside community. The design process embraced an engaging public process open to the rich and diverse neighbouring community. Returning the park to a place of safe recreation quickly emerged as the primary objective. After hours, perforated aluminum screens are drawn to secure the open areas and create the effect of a soft glowing ‘lantern in the park’.

This project was completed by omb's predecessor firm McFarlane | Green | Biggar Architecture + Design.
