Alix Demontrond

Architect DE-HMONP (France)

Curious. Energetic. Caring.

Alix’s approach to architecture mirrors her approach to life: she loves to work for people and sees architecture as a social act, an opportunity to make fellow humans’ lives better by building an environment that suits their needs. With a taste for modern, timeless, and efficient design, she admires purity and simplicity in spaces. You’ll often find her quietly observing the way light changes a space or plays within it.

Alix particularly enjoys that point when design becomes real, entering the built environment. She compares this process to a birth—not surprising for someone who counts part-time doula among the many roles she embraces. Originally from France, she and her husband moved to Vancouver to make the mountains and ocean their permanent doorstep. With their two young children, they look after their adopted home, pursuing a zero waste life and taking full advantage of the outdoor activities the West Coast has to offer.
