Canadian Rockies International Airport

Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada

Type Travel
Size 22,000 SF

Cranbrook’s Canadian Rockies International Airport takes advantage of its spectacular mountain setting in the Columbia Valley. The design carefully balances the need for openness and visibility to the surrounding landscape, with the requirements of energy efficiency and operations. The existing terminal building is repurposed as the main concourse of the expanded building, and energy saving solutions are introduced. Integration of low level displacement ventilation, substantial day lighting, radiant heating and cooling, results in a carefully considered reuse of existing resources with the performance characteristics of a completely new building.
